International Day of Persons with Disabilities

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is a global celebration dedicated to promoting understanding, advancing inclusion, and recognizing the contributions of people with disabilities. This year’s theme — “Fostering disability inclusive societies for advancing social progress” — aligns deeply with our values at Vibrant.

At Vibrant, inclusion isn’t just something we talk about — it’s embedded in our Independent Living Philosophy.

We proudly welcome people of all disabilities — and people of all backgrounds. By nurturing an environment where everyone feels valued, we create a space where advocacy, belonging, and social progress can thrive.

Celebrating With Community: Our Movie Event

To honour International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we hosted a special community movie event featuring the documentary “Crip Camp” — a powerful film that highlights disability rights advocacy, community building, and the fight for equal access. The screening sparked thoughtful conversation and inspired many who attended.

Moments like these remind us that inclusion is not just a principle — it’s something we create together through shared experiences. The photos from the event capture what mattered most — people gathered in a circle, listening, learning, and participating in a shared experience. They reflect the real spirit of inclusion: community, presence, and connection.

Council Co-Chairs’ Poster: Inclusion Through Art

A highlight of the celebration is a poster created by our Vibrant Community Council Co-Chairs. The visuals beautifully capture this year’s theme, emphasizing visibility and the importance of building societies where everyone can participate fully.

Created by our Council Co-Chairs Jennifer Conroy and Anudeep Narula in honour of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

As we celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we reaffirm that inclusion is not a one-day commitment — it’s a daily practice. We will continue to create programs, events, and spaces that uplift and empower every member of our community.

Together, we will continue to foster a society where disability inclusion is at the heart of social progress.
